5pieces has written a couple tutorials based around SlideShow Pro and Mono Slideshow.
Also, you could build your own around any number of methods using EE’s Gallery module.
Both SlideShowPro and Mono Slideshow enable you to have captions. Are captions for each photo what you want? Typically captions are a sentence or two about the photo.
Another option is to set up a weblog with custom fields and have EE “feed” a custom solution. You could start with something like this javascript in your EE template(s) and then let custom weblog fields handle the rest. Once this is set-up, your writers couldn’t have it any easier. They will just use EE’s control panel or a SAEF prepared for slideshow management.
It really doesn’t get any better than that since those options are so good and solid. A “plug and play” module, like you find with many of the popular open source CMS’s, probably isn’t available with EE (that I am aware of). EE’s approach is slightly different and more flexible. Again, once the weblogs are set up to manage a slideshow, I’m sure your writers will find it very easy to manage.
I hope this was helpful.custom weblog fieldscustom weblog fields
Stephen,
i see you’ve been using using SmoothGallery ?
When we just finished implementing a way of posting monoslideshow just by ftp-ing jpegs, and entering a unique name in a custom field, i find SmoothGallery to be a lot more SEO friendly and probably lighter.
Any more tips on how difficult it was to implement this ?
