These days, Offshore Business Processing helps companies of all sizes shore up skills gaps in their teams, boost efficiency and sharpen their focus. Thanks to technology, outsourcing has become an affordable option especially for smaller companies and entrepreneurs with little capital to burn. I did outsource some business function. I haven’t used Disqus although I think it is not a comment plugin. Disqus is a service to handle the comments and people will agree that Disqus is a good option.
I’ve debugged a few sites that use Disqus, but never really touched the Disqus bits. It’s pretty much standalone and not EE dependent in my brief look. I believe you just drop in some javascript. It didn’t seem like it would be hard to implement, but I’ve never actually done it. This is a neat site using it: https://www.mpalalive.org/live_cam
I’m torn on using an outside source- I’d definitely want to be able to export/save my data. That’s my biggest concern with them. But I agree- Disqus has some nice features- I think it does threaded comments, which I like.
From an alternative perspective… I have never picked up so much work from other businesses outsourcing!!! I am sure there is plenty of success stories, but the amount of horror stories I see, it makes for good business at my end!
The companies that I know that have succeeded. They tend to get a good developer (hit lucky) and then keep them as their own! Otherwise you will spend more time managing and quality checking than it would take to do the job in the first place. And most importantly - you need the skills to be able to make sure you are happy with what they do and you deliver to your client - otherwise you could be shoveling manure to the client… Not something I would do!
