I am having a problem with REEorder. I am using it with reverse related entries. I have used REEorder successfully in the past and I thank you very much for writing it. The module has been very helpful.
The problem is that when I use REEorder to change the order of the reverse related entries the REEorder values show properly in the REEorder module and in the weblog field but the values are ignored when I try to sort by them in a template. Also the values do not output properly on the page itself. It is like the REEorder values are being cached somewhere but not being used when the reverse_related_entries tag is used.
{reverse_related_entries sort="desc" orderby="test" sort="asc"}

{/reverse_related_entries}
interesting–this is how the directory was when I downloaded the .zip file. I was confused on which folder to put in the modules folder, since there is the root, then there is the ‘reeorder’ folder, which seems like it matches the naming conventions of the other modules. any thoughts?
Hi Cocoaholic, I’ve been using your module quite a bit in my recent projects and it’s really helping a ton! My clients really love having this reorder ability.
Since I’ve been using it a lot lately I’ve also run into a few instances that made me think of some possible additions or tweaks. Thought I’d post them here to get anybody’s thoughts:
I think it would definitely be useful to reorder by Category as well since this module works with weblog entries. I’d imagine that when choosing the weblog there could be a drop down that would ask if you’d like to sort by all, or per category. Then, when reordering it could be broken up into lists depending on how many categories there are. I think this would be a really neat addition though I haven’t looked into how to achieve this myself so I’m not sure how big of an ordeal it would be.
The other thing I thought would be great, albeit probably not quite as useful to everyone, is to be able to reorder by conditionals. I have no idea how this would even work but in my latest venture I’m trying to reorder entries that only have a file included (an optional field). I’m outputting one weblog to 2 different templates. One lists all entries and the other goes to an audio player that only lists those entries with files. I’d love to be able to reorder the latter. Again, this sounds kind of insane and complex…but would possibly be solved by Categories now that I think about it!
Anyway, just things I’ve thought of while using this really awesome module. Thanks again Cocoaholic for your great work on this.
Hmm installed on 1.6.3 and when I go to the list of entries for a weblog with about 1000 entries the page returned is blank - it does work on a weblog with 3 entries, so I know its installed correctly.
I added set_time_limit(300); to the module but it still gives the blank page after about 10 seconds.. ??
I know that there is a 100 entry limit for the weblog entries module, not sure if it’s the same limit you’re running into though. If so maybe there is a way to paginate the entry listings? I checked one of my sites where I’m using the module and we’re at roughly 90 something entries…
