Hello,
I am planning on using the forum module on a kids related site where they can post about problems at home etc Considering the nature of the content it would require Topic and Post approval by a moderator or the administrator who is a licensed psychologist.
Is post/topic approval possible with the forum module as i haven’t found it yet?
If it’s not integrated as of yet, where should i start to modify the module or does someone has experience with this kind of modification?
When i close the deal with the client i am willing to pay for the necessary mods that need to be done.
Thanks in advance, Nico
You’re right- EE doesn’t have a ‘Pending’ type status like you can do with weblog entries. It would make a good feature request, and with 1.4 on the horizon and Paul always eager for new projects, it might be a good time to make such a request.
I do remember a thread where someone was trying to work out a way to allow folks to post to a forum they didn’t actually have permission to see- thus using it as a sort of ‘pending post’ area. I’ll see if I can find the thread, but I don’t believe a full work-around was ever posted. However, if I were getting creative with this, that’s the first approach I’d try. It might take a little hacking, but I would think it would be doable. If you get in a crunch with it, you could contact someone in the PM PRO network.
Of course, having it added to the core would be the most desirable outcome.
Argh! I’ve searched all over the place and can’t find it. I hope I’m not hallucinating about EE, because that would just be sad. This post had to do with a ‘guest forum’, and doesn’t really help at all. I really don’t think it was the one I’m ‘remembering’. But I sure can’t find it if it exists.
I did play around a bit on my test forum- just to see what happens when I allow a group to view the forum but not the posts. I was hoping that would get you to a screen with a submit button. However, it just means they can see the forum name, but once clicked on, they get a warning message- nothing with a button. Which makes sense- I doubt EE would accept a post from a member without access to view the forum they were posting to. That’s the bit that would probably need hacking around for this approach to work.
The only thing that I can think of is that you could have a forum that had post access only but not read access. Let people post their stuff there. Then you can go review it and if you want it public, move it to a forum with more open permissions. Thsi won’t work for replies to posts, but it will work for the initial posts.
I know this thread has been dead for a while, but did this ever get worked out? I am attempting to build a medical public advice forum, but any advice would need to be “scrubbed” before it is posted publicly. An ideas or custom mods that are available - searched the forums but didn’t find anything.
