Hi Mark!
Looking at all your plugin’s…. amazing! Thank you for your contribution!
I have one request though… is there any way to implement this/a Live Search on the FRONT end? Perhaps a way to filter weblogs and catagories as well. That would be awesome if it’s not too troublesome! 😊
Thank you!
I’ve used this on just about every site I’ve done - but on the last few it hasn’t worked at all and I’d been utterly nonplussed - when I realized that it’s because I’ve started to mask access to the control panel on my most recent builds.
I’ll take a look under the hood to see if there is any quick fix for that (that I can handle myself, we’ll see…), but I thought I’d bring it to your attention that this doesn’t seem to be working when masking access to the control panel.
For the record, this worked - so thanks for the update.
I just started doing this for clients. I’m not sure how much added security it is, but it’s certainly a selling point to some of the more paranoid clients. The job I have now is for a very good sized company and they’re quite concerned about security. It’s easy enough to do, so I thought I’d try it out.
@Gabriel - Strange. Would you be able to enlighten me with the location to your system folder? Is it something like ‘/system’ or deeper like ‘/ee/admin’? Also is ‘system_folder’ correctly set in your system/config.php file? I can probably add localization with the next update as there’s only three words that need to be localized, I think.
Mark: You’re right. Extension not worked in that case, if system folder was deeper. I’ve set right path in the config.php and just works fine. Many thanks.
About requested language part. It’s very useful. Iam translated all extensions and modules to slovak andczech language. Then extensions without lang. part I need: - to convert self extension file on charset which Iam using; - hardly edit extension after each next update; of course - for users using CP in different languages, extension isn’t localized.
In this point of view language file should be a necessary part of all extension. Even if there is one or thousand words to lacalized.
Thanks again
I just performed my first site update to 1.6.1 and the Live Search isn’t responding at all. I’ve tried disabling every other extension to see if there is a conflict, but there didn’t seem to be anything there. Anyone else had problems with this (indispensiblie) extension and 1.6.1?
UPDATE: For the record, I’m using EE 1.6.1 20071114, and Livesearch 1.0.8
Hmm. Mine is just dead. I’m searching for terms I know are there, but there are no results popping up. I’ll uninstall and re-install…see what happens.
UPDATE: I’m an idiot. I had renamed my system folder earlier today, and failed to update the config file with the proper value. Ugh. Sorry to waste everyone’s time…including my own!
Works great, Mark.
Hi Mark,
I’ve recently had a bit of an issue with regard to moving a site to a new server. I’ve narrowed down a “display” problem to a conflict (EE 1.6.2) with extensions and the one I believe is preventing the Control Panel from displaying seems to be Live Search.
If I delete the extension entirely, upon login, I get an error message stating “live search extension can’t be found”.
What else, files, etc. need to be deleted in order to remove Live Search entirely?
thanks, -p
Update: Remove tables from database
