What is Release Candidate?

The Release Candidate is viewed as a beta version we believe is very close to a stable product, and as such, ExpressionEngine 6 will be released in the near future unless significant bugs or issues are found. There will continue to be bug fixes over the course of the Release Candidate, which will be included in the official 6.0 release.

Enhancements 🚀

Users can now upload WebP images via the File Manager #304
Added $config['legacy_member_templates'] = 'y'; to allow legacy member functionality which is now not allowed by default see System Config Overrides.
Fixed some styling on the Entry Publish Form when Live Preview is active.
Added more options to the Jump Menu
Many small style changes to Control Panel.
Added template tags for Roles.

Bug Fixes 💃🐛

Resolved issue where users could not select a color swatch via the Color Picker fieldtype settings.
Resolved issue where some “check all” options in the Control Panel did not work.
Resolved issue where the new RTE Field was not working in Channel Forms.
Resolved issue where memory errors where triggered when by add-on SVG icons.
Resolved formatting issue with XML Encode add-on.
Resolved #474 where entries created via Moblog had blank body text.
Resolved #522 where users could be prematurely logged out of the CP.
Resolved #658 where validation errors where not cleared on required Relationship fields in the Entry Publish Form.
Resolved #659 where error messages when creating a member did not reveal to the user what was wrong.
Resolved #663 where permissions were being assigned to incorrect roles.
Resolved #668 where super admins could disable their own access to the Control Panel and other important areas, essentially locking themselves out.
