LG Better Meta in multiple languages?

I’m currently using the excellent LG Better Meta extension, which I use in Japanese to add title, keywords, etc.

I am currently creating the English version of this site, based on documentation found in the EE forums and documentation. I am using the “one entry, bilingual custom fields” approach in this case.

Is there was a way to separate languages in LG Better Meta? (eg. title, meta info in Japanese and English for the Japanese and English site, respectively) If not, should I simply use a static header template for one language and LG better meta for the other?

I could create custom fields for meta data for the English section, but I don’t want to add too many extra customs fields in my entry form, unless they are under the Better Meta tab. Any other ideas?

Thank you

You could add custom fields for the Japanese meta and then use those values as parameters to override the defaults.

Thank you Leevi. I know I could add custom fields for English or Japanese meta, but this might confuse my clients, as they may complain that there are “too many fields” to fill out on their form.

I was wondering if there was a way to add these custom fields to the “Better Meta” tab in the Publish/Edit field, not the main entry form?

If you don’t want to confuse your clients with loads of custom fields, the best way is to keep the languages apart and, preferably, to group your custom fields.

Languages are together, so it’s a bit late for that. The client also prefers is this way, as it’s easier to retrieve entries in both languages.

But you just gave me an idea: how about using FF FieldFrame Matrix (or LG Matrix) and group all meta data for one language in one custom field? That would keep the custom fields to a minimum.

Also, I think Japanese will be used more frequently for meta data, so I will use LG Better meta with that language, and create a custom field for English meta.

You could use FF Matrix to manage your multi-language meta.

Make the first field a drop down with the language and then custom fields for titles etc. I’m not sure how passing another custom field through the plugin would go if it contains quotes etc. If the quotes are encoded when saved in the db there should be no worries.
