Duplicating entries

I need to duplicate an entry from a weblog which the user does not have permission to access.

I know about the CLONER extension which doesnt work the way I need.

Basically, is it possible, when creating a weblog entry, to pull in data from another weblog and display it in the fields within the publish new entry form?

Is there a hook where I can query the database, get the data for the weblog entry I want to duplicate and populate the form fields in the publish entry form?

Any thoughts?
