Restore Templates Tab from EE v1, or the Add Button feature from EE v2.

I know those little smartphone screens are tiny, but I don’t use EE in a smartphone. I use it all day in a browser in nothing smaller than a 13-inch screen.

Every EE v2 site I have has a Templates button added by hand to replace the tab that use to be in EE v1. One-click to get to the template manager… not 2.

Saves me dozens of clicks every day.

Please give me a way to easily add a Templates button in the top of the new CP.

Thanks for your consideration.

Hi Kurt,

Thanks for the feedback, I have it on my plate to give this functionality to the CP Navigation, but it’s a big problem to solve so that it works equally nicely on any screen size. It is something we want to have in the app though.

When we are doing the actual site developing, I would think we are all on desktops and accessing via a SuperAdmin account. Perhaps something can be done with just that member group in the CP?

That aside, my “fix” has been having one browser tab open just for Template Manager and another for everything else I am doing in the CP.

That’s I good workaround Jeremy S.

My challenge is that I’m typically working on 2 or more sites at a time, and may be logging into and out of a dozen a day for on quick update or another. So the 2-tab solution would just make a bigger mess of my desktop I’m afraid.

I also have clients that are very use to having a button for FreeForm, or Comment Moderation, or some other thing they do often, and I’m not sure how I’ll get them to want to dig down into the modules area to get to something that use to be one click away for them in EE2.

I’m waiting for the “ooh/awe” of tiny screens to go out of style and the efficiency of a larger screen to become sexy again. And yes, I’m the same guy that still loves to hear music played from a 12 inch disc.
