Yesterday I finally got search functionality all wired up for a site I’m working on. Everything seemed fine. Today, I was presenting the site for testing to my testing group & the Search would not work, When I try to search I get the following error:
The following errors were encountered
You are not permitted to use the search engine.
Return to Previous PageWhat I have discovered is this: If I am logged in to the Admin CP, search works correctly. If I am not, I get the error. Has anyone seen this issue or is there a setting I have missed?

It’s a permission issue, I think. You’ll have to turn on “Access search utility” for your “Guest” group (group_id 3, in most cases).
Thank you. That was it (or part of it). I also had to go into my results template page and allow guest access to that page as well.
