Installation EE3.1.2 Nightmare...

After 15 successful EE 1.X-2.X SITES…

I have had issues most of the day trying to get EE3 rolling, so after several weird problems that kicked 500 Errors from the initial install (although the installation worked well except for wierd commenting tag issues)…I figured I would reinstall before getting much further or wasting time on trying to Solve initial errors…BUT…

…Followed the instructions to install EE3 Core via site.

Add database credentials via Installation Wizard…hit “start Installation”

Error: Unable to load the requested controller.

Did the entire procedure (fresh installs, fresh DB) 3 times with same error …ideas?

Using EE recommended Host: Arcusoft. Host environment passes everything as per EE install wizard

Thanks for any insight…do I need to purge anything…from a DB standpoint ? Again I am trying to start from total fresh install by deleting all files/folders and adding a new DB with unique name (within req naming convention) but no luck.

Returns “Error: Unable to load the requested controller.” when trying to execute initial EE installation Screen,

Have you had a look at the server logs? A 500 error ist always the server’s fault, usually due to some configuration issue.

Hey Ingmar, thanks for taking the time…

I did take a look at the logs, but was not able to determine assignable cause…with my experience.

I have attached the error logs…

I have not idea what “privacy_policy.php” but I was having strange errors due to trying to hook up the commenting system and that is where the strange behavior started….then things went down hill fast, to the point where after submitting comment was redirected to a 500 error - blank screen…posted initial problems here

any thoughts…thanks again for your time and expertise.

kindly, matt

***Note, that I did catch a syntax error when testing ‘locahost’ (missing ‘l’) but after catching the mistake, correcting did not solve the problem.

File would not attached so added below.

It looks as though your MySQL server is not found. Are you quite sure it’s localhost? For performance reasons it’s quite often a separate machine, which you’d have to specify instead of localhost. Your host should be able to help you there.

As to the other error, perhaps this posting helps?

yea, thanks for taking a look:

The “server not found” error has to do with a Syntax error ‘locahost’

From Host Documentation: MySQL Server: localhost

Interestingly, all settings within this host environment clear with no errors using EE server wizard…

Looks like I will have to buy support from EE to figure this out…miss the old days when Lisa and company would ring in and provide free support…this is really a weird situation.

thanks…will post the answer if/when is identified.

Hi,

Looks like there’s a typo with the the MySQL Server config. The error indicates it was given locahost when it’s probably localhost. Would you mind double checking what’s under “Server Address” in the install screen?

Thanks Seth for ringing in…

**> I caught that last night > and made that change, but did not fix the problem…

SINCE THE ABOVE PROBLEM: I had the host recycle the server…I did a fresh install, new DB…imported the other one…now all is working, but…I am back having the same problem that I originally had that led me down the to the problems above…

Cannot post comments!

Generates this error: The following errors were encountered You are not allowed to post comments

Test Page is here: http://stevenseppinni.com/index.php/site/article_detail_video/this-is-a-video-example

Running EE 3.1.2 Core

Any ideas??

Thanks again for taking the time…

Hi Matt,

Did you check the member group permission for “Submit comments”? If that’s not it check the Channel settings for “Require membership?”. Let me know if either of those fixes it or not.

Hey Seth,

1: Yes I checked member group permissions from inside the CP, but after checking it from the dbase table ‘can_post_comments’ it is set to ‘n’ (no). ( I will get back to that in a minute)

2: I created a new member group for testing and enabled comments and checked dBase to confirm it is set to ‘y’ ‘can_post_comments’. Then I tested > it returns to the post with the id number in the URL opposed to real name and is blank page…nothing else renders. White Page. (this is the same result when testing from non-related browser and not logged-in)

3: Lastly, back to dbase ‘can_post_comments’ table for SuperAdmin: If I manually change the database table here from ‘n’ to ‘y’ and test I get this: Fatal error: Class ‘EllisLab\Addons\Spam\Service\Spam’ not found in /storage/av03483/www/public_html/system/ee/EllisLab/ExpressionEngine/app.setup.php on line 133

4: when I change dbase ‘can_post_comments’ table for SuperAdmin: to ‘n’ and test: I get this > You are not allowed to post comments

Which is the only thing that kinda make sense…but I am lost as to why all this happening…bad comment form code/tags?

Thanks again for taking a look…

Hi Matt,

There’s a bug in Core related to the comments module looking for the Spam module, which is not included in Core. We’re working on a fix but in the meantime I posted a workaround at https://ellislab.com/forums/viewreply/1071706/. Let me know if that resolves anything for you.
