Using Channel Form for people to submit news items.
The article is added to the News channel with status “awaiting moderation” applied. The site editor can then change it to open if they approve the submitted news article.
I have “Enable channel entry notification” switched on for the news channel so an email is generated and sent to the editor whenever a news item is submitted - saves them logging in and checking manually.
However no emails are being sent. Any ideas?
I have also tested with several email addresses at different domains without luck.
I confirm that I can send emails via Utilities > Communicate so EE is able to send emails via the host.
Using EE3.2.1 PHP 5.6.19 PHP Mail
The only thing I can think of is to check that your “New Entry notification” template is populated and has a subject. It’s a long shot, because it ought to be populated. You can find it by going to http://<domain>/admin.php?/cp/design/email/edit/4
Also, ensure that your recipient email addresses are separated with commas (no spaces)
Could be a bug, although I couldn’t see anything obvious in the source code. Another user has reported the same problem.
I’m experiencing the same thing at the moment too, on EE 2.11.1
I’m just looking into MX Notify Control plugin to see if that’ll help.

Yep that’ll do the job on EE2 but ideally you wouldn’t have to use a plugin for core EE functionality.
Ellislab have you seen this post and related bug report?
I can’t confirm 100% if this is a bug but seems a few people have this issue and we’ve tried all our obvious options.
