Hi! I’m having trouble finding a definite answer beyond 2009.

We are looking at installing the EE forum to our site. Does this support single sign on? We don’t want our users to have to register twice.

Thanks!

Hi, As far as I know there’s only 1 Member module, which is used to handle members across all areas of the site. You set up user groups and assign permission levels to the groups (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)). Then the forum allow you to assign forum permissions to the different user groups you’ve set up (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)).

So if you already have member groups with access to certain features of your site, it would only be a matter of giving that member group permissions for the forum, and/or create group variations and move members into different groups as needed. So a ‘single member account’ would cover both forum and non-forum areas.

Travisb is correct, the forum module uses the same members as the rest of ExpressionEngine, so you only need one account per user.
