EE 3.4.3 - Cannot connect to Redis

When trying to to use the redis cache driver, i get the Cannot connect to Redis, using File driver instead error. I can telnet to the redis host without issue, can someone shed some light as to why EE won’t connect?
The same thing happens with Memcache.
