Grid Field Column width field

When creating a new column in a Grid field, does the “Column width” field value actually do anything? I used to be able to add a percentage value to have some control over how wide the columns render.

However, it appears the field input now only accepts numeric values, which do nothing when the grid field renders in the CP.

I’m not finding that field mentioned in the documentation either. What to do?
