Create members who can only edit/post entries in a specific category?

How Do I?

Hey there,

I was wondering if it is possible in EE3 to have members create/edit entries only in a specific category?

For example, if the ‘blog’ entry had categories [alpha, beta and gamma] could I create a user who could only post/edit entries in the ‘alpha’ category?

I know i could create separate blogs and only grant access to each one for each user type but was hoping to keep all the blog entries together overall.

Thanks!

No, categories cannot be restricted by author, they are simple taxonomy to apply to entries. If you need authorship rights / control, multiple Channels is the correct approach, but they can use the same custom field groups, categories, and statuses, and a single Channel Entries tag by specifying multiple channels with the channel= parameter.

Each author will only see the channels they have access to, and the authoring experience will be transparent, and on the front end you will not be limited on how to display these entries, including keeping them all together, and unknown to the visitor that they are separate channels. Make sense?
