Hosting ASP.net application in an EE site

We are hoping to use EE to build a website that will coordinate with an ASP.net application. Member data and session data will need to flow between the environments. The Asp.net tool will be built in DOJO.

The site also, ideally, will plug into a secure ecommerce platform in the future.

Does anyone have experience or suggestions on how to and how not to get these databases connected?
