Entry Manager - Search By Title ONLY

How Do I?

We just did the v2.11 upgrade to 3.5.7. One thing we’ve noticed is when we search through our thousands of entries using the search tool on the Entry Manager page is that it appears to be searching ALL the searchable fields, NOT just the title. According to the EE3 documentation, this is supposed to be a title search: https://docs.expressionengine.com/latest/cp/publish/edit.html#search-entries

Am I missing something? Is there an obscure parameter somewhere that would limit this search to title only, as it was in EE2.xx?

We all hear you. Hopefully something similar to EE2 filters on CP search will return soon. It has been complained about and discussed prior, but EL has made no commitment to it, that I am aware of, despite how important it is. It can be frustrating to be at 3.5.7 and STILL be waiting for features we used to have make their way back to the product.

When there is an option that you’re used to, that you view as vital and that goes missing due to software rearchitecture, it can be frustrating. I’ve hit some pretty painful versions of this myself, notably in Apple’s products: Pages, Numbers, and Final Cut. On the design and engineering side, the improvements and future vision make the reasons for temporary absence of some features necessary and acceptable. But as a user, you’re just frustrated each time you reach for something that you were used to that’s not there. And there’s little explanation that would assuage the user for their missing feature not being a top priority for the engineers.

So just thought I’d drop in here to share some empathy. In this case it’s not removed because we don’t want it there, and we realize how frustrating it can be from your side of the screen. We hope to have title-limited search back for you soon.

I know, Derek, and we appreciate when you respond to keep us in the loop. But the issue remains that when ee2 is sunsetted and ee3 is not as full-featured from the client’s perspective, we’re left in a hard place. Looking forward to having better CP search filter and bulk updates to entries return to the product.
