Duplicate channels + channel entries + channel fields in MultiSite (after the fact)

How Do I?

Hi, so fairly new to EEv2 specifically MSM. Got MultiSite license, went thru documentation, but now that I’m 3 days into building up this new site I find that I need at least one additional channel, the channel data entries and the channel fields, all of which are not available in the new site, only in parent site.

How or can I move this channel, data and fields to my new site after I have already done the new site migration. There are literally hundreds of entries and many channel fields that would not be fun to rebuild in the new site….so hoping there is a ‘slick’ way to do this. Not clear if starting the migration over again would help (ie maybe i missed some channels/data) but at this point it might actually be less time.

Any advice is welcomed and thanks in advance.

There really isn’t a native way to move or duplicate data between msm sites after the initial site creation. And in v3, you can’t copy data during the site creation.

That leaves a couple of options. If you haven’t added new channels/fields/content, it might be easier to just add a new site. Templates are easy to move around, as all you need to do is set them to save as template files, sync those up, then copy over the existing folder.

Another alternative would be to use something like DataGrab to copy over content.

Yeah, did some further digging and essentially I was able to use the ‘site’ attribute to pull data in from the appropriate site entries, in this case my parent site. Seems to work fine and it saves me duplicating data in same DB. Thanks for your response.
