How can an administator add a custom field value when approving a new member?

How Do I?

Hello

We have a custom field “CustomerKey” defined for the members.

In our workflow when a new member registers it must be approved by our site admin. We’d like the site admin to enter the value for the member’s “CustomerKey” when approving the member.

How can I do this?

The Custom field will be available in their Member Profile. If you click their username after approving it will take you to the page where that field will be available to accept input.

Hi James,

If I click on their username after approving them. The screen (Account Statistics For…) that is displayed is read-only and doesn’t appear to contain the custom field.

I get the same read-only (Account Statistics For…) page when clicking on the usernames listed in the members -> view members screen.

Maybe I’m not finding the correct username link to navigate to the member profile. Any hints on what I’m missing?

Hi, Are you in the CP? In the CP clicking their username should bring you to a Personal Setting form.

Hi James, thanks for your help.

Yes, I’m in the control panel logged in as the Administrator. (Members -> View All) This listing screen shows all the members.

Clicking on any of the usernames takes me to a read-only (Account Statistics For…) screen.

I’m not sure why my member section in the CP isn’t working correctly. Maybe I have an incorrect setting but, I can’t find a config option that controls this behavior.

Hi,

There should be a sidebar menu of secondary navigation for the member, where you can find custom and built in fields for members. Also you should immediately upgrade your installation. 2.1.3 is very very old, and there have been a ton of security and stability releases since then.

Hmmmm… I don’t have “There should be a sidebar menu of secondary navigation for the member”. I’m not sure where to go from here, but I hate to take up so much of your time. I think at this point I’m going to abandon the idea of using the EE member functionality. It doesn’t seem to working in my version of EE.

Unfortunately the hosting environment doesn’t meet the requirements for EE v3 and the client refuses to change hosting companies. I maybe able to upgrade to 2.11.9. I’ll need to check.

thanks

Hi,

Not wasting my time, If you send an email to [email protected] with a screenshot of what you are seeing I can point you in the right direction. Also yes, 2.11.9 would be much better than 2.1.3
