Image browser previews?

I’ve noticed that when I use the image browser to view existing images, the thumbnails only show part of the image - there is no way to preview the full image short of selecting it and bringing it into the channel entry which is really cumbersome. The aspect ratio of the thumbnails makes this especially problematic if you’re trying to preview tall narrow images. It would be cool if there was a preview button that opened the image in a modal (or something like that).
