Can't upload audio files

Hi there,
I’m running EE 3.5.16. Recently I lost the ability to upload MP3 or M4A files into a directory that is set for all file types, and that I used to be able to upload into. Other document types seem to upload with no issues. I get an error saying “File not allowed.”
If I try uploading to the directory through FTP and then sync the directory, the new MP3 and M4A files are flagged with this error: “The file type you are attempting to upload is not allowed.”
Has anyone else run into or solved this issue? I’ve looked around and seen some old posts about MIME types, but those should be fine here. XSS filtering is off in ExpressionEngine.

Try to disable XSS filtering in your security preferences.
Hey there – XSS filtering was already off. I did the IT Crowd thing and turned it off and on again, but no help!
Update: I resolved this issue by downgrading PHP to 5.6 and then upgrading to PHP 7 again.
