How Do I?

Hi

I would like to use expression engine in a way that most of my content is publicly available w/o signing in (as a user), but some of the content pages require signing in to view. Is there a way I can do that?

Yes. If you want to do it from within EE (rather than in .htaccess, for example), you do it by protecting the template that’s used to display the document.

When you’re editing a template, go to the “Access” tab, and you’ll see an option to “Enable HTTP Authentication?” If you set this to “Enable”, users will have to login (using their EE login) to see any content which uses this template. You can use the “Allowed member groups” field shown above to control which member groups have access.

Thanks, this is helpful.

I saw there is an SSO add-in available and our plan is to use this with that add-in. how would it work in that scenario?

That would depend on the specific add-on. You’d need to look at the documentation for the add-on, or see what support the add-on provider can give you.
