How Do I?

I have just taken over an Expression Engine for SEO and it is the first time I have dealt with it.

I asked the developer to install Google analytics code and they put it in the header as expected but after 2 weeks I am not getting any data through. I have installed hundreds of these on other sites and just wanted to find out if there were any quirks with EE before I start bugging the developer again.

Here is where they placed the code. I notice that many EE sites put this in the footer though.

Any help would be helpful.

<!DOCTYPE html> <html lang=”en” class=”no-js”> <head> <!– Global site tag (gtag.js) - Google Analytics –> [removed][removed] [removed] window.dataLayer = window.dataLayer || []; function gtag(){dataLayer.push(arguments);} gtag(‘js’, new Date());

gtag(‘config’, ‘XXXXXXXX’); [removed] <meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatible” content=”IE=edge” /> <meta charset=”utf-8” />

<meta http-equiv=”cleartype” content=”on” /> <meta name=”viewport” content=”width=device-width,initial-scale=1” /> <meta name=”msapplication-tap-highlight” content=”no” />

There isn’t anything native to ExpressionEngine that would suppress or prevent GA from working. But, due to its flexibility it is possible there is something in the way the templates were structured, or an add-on that could be causing GA to fail.

We’d need to have a closer look at your specific setup/install, and for that we’d need to log in. I’d recommend opening a support ticket so a trained expert can help you determine what might be causing GA to fail on your install.
