Hi all,
I’ll be posting a note to Mitchell at Solspace on this as well, but thought I’d put it to the EE community on the whole as well.
I’m using the Solspace Tag module which I’m a big fan of; however, recently we’ve seen a lot of spam being submitted in the form of links to questionable sites (need I say more). I’ve wrapped the tag submit form in an if logged_in tag, but somewhere, somehow these tags are still getting submitted.
In the meantime we’re reviewing logfiles for suspicious activity, nothing jumping out yet. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation?
Thanks!
I’ve downloaded the module but never had the chance to play with it. Wonder if it’s using secure forms as a check on submissions? I’d think so. But I haven’t poked enough to see. It’s definitely just the tags module where the spam links are coming through? Nothing in EE comments or anything? (And I may move this one down to the ‘Modules’ forum as long as it’s a Tags specific issue).
I am going to move this since it really is specific to the Tag module, as Robin suspects - but I actually use it so I know =) The tag submit is something inherent to the module itself so is a third-party issue. Solspace.com does now have forums so that would be the appropriate place to follow up on this, as well.
