I downloaded and copied FCKEditor to SYSTEM(RENAMED)\fckeditor and installed the module, I adjusted the path in the fckeditor extension, but I still do not see fckeditor in the textarea windows on the publish page, I left the default configuration on the extension so it will just work for textareas.
Is TinyMCE much better, I see it was mentioned most people use TinyMCE, so I was thinking about taking this one off and going with that, I did get it installed on the community edition earlier when I was monkeying around.
Mod Edit: Moved to the Modules forum as this is a third-party module..
I’ve used both FCKEditor and TinyMCE and my preference (after using FCK) is Tiny as the code output is a bit better and its a little cleaner interface. Additionally, the plugins for Tiny (image manager) are nice too.
I should add that I had FCK configured to appear in all text areas but with one of the EE extensions for Tiny I could specify which text areas were to be wizywig.
If you install TinyMCE wizywig manager you can upload files to it via their own filemanager plugin (but at an additional cost - http://tinymce.moxiecode.com/plugins.php).
However, if you want a stand-alone EE plugin (not integrated through the wizywig text editor) for an image upload custom field that uses filemanager or imagemanager capabilities, that can be found here: http://leevigraham.com/cms-customisation/expressionengine
Also, as far as I know images are uploaded into the tinymce manager directory and not into an images directory of your choice. I imagine that this could be configured to upload images wherever one wanted but I couldn’t find that out. This was problematic for me as I already have sites built with pre-specified image directories.
There is also Mark Huote’s “File” extension http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/38997/ too that is handy and I’ve used that on a site as well as a few other extensions. It would be nice if EE just made a custom field type that was for file uploads.
Well it seems TinyMCE is showing up in IE6 no problem, but under FireFox 2.0.11 it will not display, even after clearing the cache. I believe this is the same problem I was having with FCKEditor, any idea what would cause it to not work in FireFox? I tried clearing the cache in FireFox as well.

I was having an issue where some paths were set with www in the TinyMCE config and I was trying to access the site without the www. Or something similar. Just a thought.

It works fine in IE6.
I also get tinymce appearing in the trackback area. In Safari 3.0.4 on Mac, editing a post with tinymce enabled gives the following response -
The following trackback pings were not accepted: - Invalid Connection
but the entry still gets edited okay.
I’m also not getting tinymce to display in Firefox 2.0.0.11.
