Well… it got to be pretty obvious, but not for me. I just downloaded “Advanced Captcha” extension, and found in archive two files with almost identical names:

ext.advanced_captcha.php
._ext.advanced_captcha.php

Which one of them should I install? 😛

Anyone? I don’t understand: Is this question too simple or too complex for you, people? Nobody uses this extension? What the reason for the file “._ext.advanced_captcha.php”? Some kind of temporary stuff that was forgotten to be deleted from archive or what?

alex7,

A file that starts with a period is a UNIX invisible file. Basically it is like those _thumb files that Windows creates all of the time that Mac people always get in downloaded Zip files. The person who uploaded that Zip file was probably on a UNIX based Mac and that file was not visible to them. It probably holds file type, icon preview stuff, and other kinds of info.

You want the file that doesn’t start with a period.
