Global Variables in member profile template

I purchased the awesome Favorites module from Solspace, and I’m attempting to make a field in the “Personal Info” section of the member profile template that will display the user’s favorited entries.

However while I’m developing it, I’m trying to wrap it in a tag so only I can see it. Basically when I try to print {username} or {screen_name} on the membership profile template it prints the name of the person’s template I’m looking at.

That and the basic code for the Favorites module isn’t picked up as a variable, it just shows up as regular text: {exp:favorites:shared entry_id = "5"}content{/exp:favorites:shared}

Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks for your time.

Hi, doubledpd, support for the Favorites module should be handled in the the Solspace Forums since it is a third party offering.

I’m going to move this to another forum here as well.

OK, well. Forget I mentioned the module thing.

The main thing I’m having trouble with is getting {username} to print the username of the logged in user, rather than the user’s profile I’m looking at. Is there a fundamental something I’m overlooking when working in the member profile template?

You can always use {logged_in_username}, of course 😊

I just gave that a try and for some reason it didn’t pick it up as a variable. It just printed “{logged_in_screen_name}” instead of my screen name.

I’ve foraged the forums for help on the member profile template issue. I’m thinking of starting a different thread elsewhere to help me get around that hump. I’ll be back here when I figure that issue out.

In what context are you using these variables? They are only available within an {exp:weblog:entris} scope.
