LG Polls Module Error

Does anybody know how to fix this error? I sent Levi Gram (the creator of this module) an email, but he still hasn’t responded.
Warning: mkdir() [function.mkdir]: Permission denied in /var/…/extensions/ext.lg_polls_controller.php on line 973
I only get it on my control panel home. When I navigate a way from the CP home it goes away.
Most likely, that has to do with the version check Levi build into his addons. That tries to create a folder lg_cache inside the system/cache folder and stores a text file with the current version numbers in that folder. Perhaps there is a permission problem when trying to create that folder. What I would try: Check permissions for the cache folder or create the folder manually or disable version checking for the module.

This may be related to this error…
I’ve installed the poll module and everything seems to be correct, EXCEPT that when I create a poll, it is not written to the database. Could this also be a permission issue?
details:
- I click on the modules modules tab->LG polls
- I create a poll
- Poll shows up under the edit tab
- Poll does not show up when I try to list the polls under the LG module

Are all your custom fields setup correctly? LG Polls requires two special custom field types in your polls weblog.
