As far as I can see the standard EE forum-blog integration requires users to fill in the normal blog fields and then additional fields for the forum thread title and body. From the perspective of the site I’m working on currently this doesn’t make much sense as the thread title will be the same as the entry title and the post should mirror the weblog summary field.
Is anyone aware of an extension that will automatically do the leg work and create forum posts as and when blog entries are added? I’ve been digging around and found a reference to one but can’t see anything further.
Thanks, Dom
I’ve just completed that which you seek
Basically, get ready to go under the hood (not that bad). You will need to know the id of the fields you want copied as CP wont give you all of them so you will need to access the actual DB.
Download the extension ext.forum_fill.php on the linked page and read the remainder of the posts in that thread, it may not suit your particular circumstance but will give you a solid grounding any extra issues ask away, I feel like an expert ATM 😛
I will most likely create a wiki on this topic in the coming week, detailing my experience using a broad tone, but it does work 😊
