Pages Nested Menu ordering

Can somebody clarify (with a sample perhaps) how the Order functionality works on the Pages Nested Menu works? Here’s an example of what I want to do.

Default Output from PNM apple | ball | car | orange

Reordered Output apple | orange | car | ball

I thought that I could do the following but it did nothing:

{exp:pages_nested_menu root="/{segment_1}/" include_ul="no" include_root="no" depth="1" order="apple|orange|car|ball"}

Anybody figured out how to get the order feature to work? Thanks, Jason
