I can’t seem to find an example of how to detect flash with the flvplayer pluggin. Can anyone help me out with an example? I have the flvplayer working fine right now with the following code on my page, but just don’t know how to incorporate the detection.

This is on the page:

{exp:flvplugin  playerpath="/players/player.swf" playernumber="1" file="/video/myvid.mp4" image="/video/myvid.jpg" width="280" height="175" showdigits="true" }

I’m loading the swfobject.js file in my page head as described.

They kind of breeze over the detection issue here: http://www.5pieces.com/blog/flv-player-plugin-v3/ Any help would be appreciated.

I could really use some direction here. This is what is happening.

When I load the page with the flash content (mp4 video) on in IE7 or firefox (parallels running xp) with flash player Version 9,0,47,0 installed and click the play button. Nothing happens, just the animated graphic shows like it is trying to load something, but never does…

When I install the newest version of the Flash player everything works fine. Any ideas on what could be causing my movie to not play until I upgrade the player?

The Flash version is detecting automatically using the swfobject. The minimum version in the plug-in is 7. If you view your source you will see that. If the user has no flash then a message will appear asking them to download it.

What is your mp4 encoded with? What codec is it? This sounds like a flash version problem rather than the plug-in problem. If you read through the various bug fixes for the many version of the 9 series of player you can see a lot of fixes for mp4 alone.
