related entries plugin?

I’m building a simple “tips” site allowing the editors to add a Race and list the horses they think will do well.
So we have two weblogs / sections:
1.Race details a. Race name b. Going / ground conditions c. Length of race d. Type of Race e. etc
2.Horses a. Name b. Age c. Jockey d. Trainer e. Etc
I have tried using the related field and the test results are here: http://www.luckyjo.co.uk/index.php my issue or problem is that the Race details are repeated for every horse.
I want it to work so that you have the Race details then ALL horses listed. There could be a single horse or multiple for each race.
What is the best way to achieve this? Do I need and could anyone recomend a plugin?
p.s. I’d like to point out this is NOT A BETTING SITE, just a simple means to give advice and monitor results.
Which weblog has the relationship field?
I’m thinking you want to have the relationship field in the horse weblog - so add a horse, choose the race that it’s in.
Then your template would run a weblog:entries tag pulling from the Races weblog, and use reverse_related_entries to pull in the horses that are in that race.
I like the soun of that I’ll give it a go.
Failing that I thin the plugins “playa” or the sol space “Related Entries 1.0.4” will also help.
Fair enough - just for what you’ve specified so far (assigning and displaying horses to a race) I don’t think you need a plugin, but those do offer some advanced features that might appeal to you.
