Directory Manager combined with MH's File

I am curious to see if anyone knows if this has been done yet, or anything like this. I would like to be able to add a custom field that has a few options.

1). Create a new directory folder from the publish/edit tab and assign member access permissions from there.

2). Create sub-directories from main folder from step 1 and assign access permissions on those.

3) Then be able to add files to those folders. Maybe incorporate Mark Hout’s file extension.

4) Finally, Incorporate jquery file tree plugin to view that directory and files associated with that weblog entry. Here is a demo of that plugin. http://abeautifulsite.net/notebook_files/58/demo/ and have the files downloaded when clicked on.
