I released a new extension…
Are you frequently using the facility to assign future dates to your entries in order to time the release of your postings?
Have you ever wondered about what happens with XML-RPC update pings to weblogs.com, Google, Technorati and the like when you do this? Or with trackbacks? Well… nothing. At the time when you save the future entry it is not yet published on your website and consequently ExpressionEngine will not notify remote sites, and rightful so.
When the future date is reached your new entry will “silently” appear on the website. Unless you manually re-open and update it there will still be no update pings or trackbacks.
That’s where Postponed comes into play. This extension will automatically record your ping- and trackback-jobs when you post a future entry and will postpone them until the entry goes live. Once the time has come it will notify any pingservers you selected and any trackback URLs you entered.
Great idea! This “silent” behaviour of EE always kind of annoyed me. But honestly, I’m not using trackbacks and pings much these days - however, an integration with LG Twitter (or anything similar) to send tweets obout the “new entry” would be great 😊 Best regards Markus
+1
That would be a cool feature.
