TinyMCE and the Stand Alone Entry Form

I have installed TinyMCE and like it very much. However, I have encountered a kind of catch-22.

When I set a custom field to WYSIWYG the Publish page in the Control Panel (CP) uses tinyMCE and looks great. But in my saef none of my custom fields show any text area at all. When I examine the code there simply is no text area. It’s been obliterated.

Here’s the thing. When I set the custom field to “textarea”, tinyMCE comes up in the saef field and looks great. But then it does not come up in the publish page in the CP. Furthermore, when the entered text on the saef is submitted none of the formatting sticks. It gets run through as html code and I get text with “spans” and “td’s” all over the place.

It seems that for the formatting to work the custom field needs to be set at WYSIWYG, just as the wiki says. But I just can’t get any textarea to appear when I do that.

Thanks for any help!

Looks like extension 1.3.3. I downloaded it yesterday (2/9/09).

I feel I must be using it wrong. The instructions clearly say that the custom fields should be changed to WYSIWYG. Doing this adds tinymce to my publish page, so it’s accurate…

I just can’t get it to work in my saef through the site using WYSIWYG.

Narthex, is this LG-TinyMCE I assume that it is based on the version number you mentioned.

LG-TinyMCE is a third party extension, so I’m going to move this to the Extensions forum.

FIGURED IT OUT**

Months ago when I created the weblog I set the weblog to “Allow only Safe HTML”. This seemed like a good idea at the time.

TinyMCE uses spans a lot, which are not in the safe html pallet. Therefore I have kept getting raw code thrown through.

By changing the weblog to “Allow All HTML” TinyMCE now works better.

** If anyone is reading this, it would be VERY helpful if this little detail were included on the tinyMCE extensions page. It would seem to be necessary for the extension to work!
