Issue with NULL field format - specifically with MD SImple Relation extension

Is there a way to edit the MD Simple Relation extension to set the format to “none” when adding a new entry?

I read some discussion about some extensions setting field format to “NULL” instead of “none”. I was getting the cursed tag around my first row of the output and the html strip plug wasn’t working. I was able to run an UPDATE query to change the field formats for existing entries and that DID get rid of the tag.

This site is running 1.6.7.
