Is TruncHTML incompatible with Markdown formatted fields?

Both are extremely popular add-ons, frequently seen listed as “must haves” in these forums, but when I try and run them together I just get a blank page. Are the two compatible with either other?

FWIW I’m using Expression Engine 1.6.6, This version of the Markdown plug-in and TruncHTML 1.3. I use Markdown as the default formatting on my fields and use the {exp:trunchtml} tags in my templates around field output.

So my implementation in the template would just look like:

{exp:trunchtml chars="420" inline="..."}
    {films_synopsis}
{/exp:trunchtml}

Do I have something wrong, or do these two just not play nice?

Well after a little more digging the same thing happens with any character limit plug-in including TruncHTML, Eexcerpt, GMS Truncator and Word Limiter, so the issue may be related to the Markdown Plug-in.

I also just checked it against the Textile plug-in, the behavior is the same as Markdown and EE spits out a blank page.

What is different between the EE Typography plug-ins and the Markdown/Textile plug-ins that makes the later incompatible.

I just installed the linked Markdown Plugin and did some testing. I didn’t notice any issues. Perhaps I’m using it differently?

On further investigation those two plug-ins do not appear to be causing the problem.
