LG BetterMeta changing & amp; to &

I am using LG Bettermeta 1.7.1 and it works great. The only problem that I am having is that it’s not converting & to

&

yet when I use

&

it gets converted to &. Because of this I can’t get the pages to validate and I don’t want to go in and change all my &’s if I don’t have to. Can you help me?
