I have a project where the client would like to split entries and insert ads into the page. Is there a plugin that will split an entry so you can add some adds?

Thanks! M.

Hmm I seem to remember something like that a while back but can’t for the life of me think where I saw it.

Depending on how you want to split it then you could probably do this with some PHP or something or perhaps write a plugin which splits it for you maybe?

That said splitting content can be a tricky business as if not done correctly you end up with part of one sentence mixed up in another or something like that.

Could you not just use separate fields and have the client type into those?

Also is it always going to be the same amount of adverts each time. If so then I would definitely incline towards separate custom fields as then it would be easy. If a different amount of adverts then that gets probably a little trickier.

If you can I would say push the client towards separate custom fields just to make things easier and more powerful for everyone 😊

That said hopefully someone can remember what ever I was thinking of and provide a link here?

Best wishes,

Mark

What is going to be the content of the entries?

Marcus, if the client has a stock set of ads he’d like to use, then he could create a global variable for each of them, and manually place {ad1}, {ad2}, etc. inside the text of the entry.

Was just thinking about this some more and you could even possibly use like Sue says some kind of variable - {advert} and then use a find and replace plugin around your content field to swap them out.

I now remember what it was that I was babbling on about remember previously :

LG Replace

I’m pretty sure that could be made to do something like you need. I do remember that it’s pretty advanced that one.

Best wishes,

Mark

Global variables or Fresh variables would be a better choice, easier to edit.
