Retrieving Extension Settings - HOW?

Hiya,

Could someone possibly refresh my memory as to the easy way to use an extension setting within the extension?

I currently have the extension working with hard-coded values and I do have an extensions settings page which at the moment just has the one text field for a word that I want the user to submit as the setting and it saves the form fine but now I just can’t for the life of me remember how to retrieve that setting for use in my extension.

Particularly I need to use whatever word has been placed into the extension settings text field within a SQL query so I really need to just be able to return the value and set it to a variable which will then enable me to use it in the query.

I hope I explained that correctly and someone understands what I’m on about?

I did read the developer documentation but it didn’t seem to explain this very well or if at all? If it does explain it somewhere then I apologise as I must be missing it somewhere and if someone could point me to the right page then I’d be exceptionally grateful.

I also tried looking into extensions I had made previously and now I can’t find one where I even use settings!! :-( I also tried looking at other extensions people have made but some of the code used in them just blows my mind away and anything I try just completely confuses me :-(

Any help on this at all would be greatly appreciated.
