Server Move Problems—Feedgrab

Development and Programming

I don’t think this is a problem with the Feedgrab plugin. I recently moved hosts. Everything went well but the page that uses feedgrab to post news to my blog has formatting issues. The content still posts but all the formatting html information gets posted in a large block of raw text. Anyone have an idea why? When I move it back to the original host the content works as it should. Is this a PHP version problem? Something else?

Many thanks for any suggestions.

What version and build of EE are you on? Also, do you’ve got a link to the page in question?

However or wherever it happens, all angle brackets < > are stripped from your code; consequently HTML tags are treated as regular text. Where does this code come from? Is it posted as weblog entry? If so, are the brackets missing in the entry already?

Feedgrab aggregates RSS feeds and posts them in EE as an entry. Why, I wonder, would EE/feedgrab work on one server and not on another? What back end function-if that is the culprit- would strip out the <>? Is it a PHP versioning issue?

Let me repeat my question: Are the brackets removed at the time of adding the entry, ie actually stored in the database, or does it happen on the server?

Hi Igmar, I don’t know. I can make an educated guess that given the instance of EE is constant, as is the plugin, it must be a server-side issue.

Right, but couldn’t you simply take a look at one of the imported entries via the control panel?

Hi, if I look at the entry in “edit” and in the database weblog_data table, it shows the data without any <>

Thanks. This seems to indicate that the brackets are stripped at the time of adding the entry. I haven’t experienced this myself, but it definitely looks like a server issue. I’ll try to replicate this on my server. Since Feedgrab happens to be a third party plugin, however, I need to move this thread down to Plugins.

Thanks! I’ll go to my host’s support as well and see if they have any insights.
