Plugin Port Request WP to EE: Display Image Based on a Word

Hi guys. If this isn’t really allowed in the forum, feel free to remove the post, but my knowledge of plugin building is so limited, I thought I’d see if I couldn’t get some help from the community.

It’s currently a Wordpress plugin, and basically takes a word surrounded by BBCode and finds an image associated with the word (Magic: the Gathering cards to be specific.) Examples are seen here http://www.backseatsurfer.de/wp-mtg-helper/ after you click “Show/Hide Examples”

I’m sure it’s not too hard to port over, so either any help in actually doing so, or guidance on where to go next to get started porting something like this over, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
