I was getting that same error too. It seemed like if I went into each existing entry and re-saved that it would not show that error anymore. But it was not consistent.

Loving the new features! Thanks for your hard work on this. I love the extra thought on the trash can.

All good here so far! Much appreciated

Cheers

The caffeine is kicking in I now see the new link for 0.9.5. The new features…I cannot say enough how usable this one is, how did EE ever live without it, good job!!!

Two things:

  1. I get open base restriction warnings, I assume that I need to loosen up on my PHP.ini if I want the thumbnail to appear?

  2. Will Mark’s old file extension convert over, I started using his back when it came out and now I want to use File Field exclusively but don’t want to destroy all the work I have done.

I’m getting really strange errors when trying to upload a file in the new extension version. Despite these errors, the file is uploaded.

New release v.0.9.6

http://www.ngenworks.com/software/ee/ngen-file-field/

This release resolves the reported Javascript issues and a few miscellaneous bugs regarding some of the notice errors reported.

I see the title on your site says 0.9.6 but the download is 0.9.5. Is this correct?

That seemed to fix some of the errors. I am still getting some notices and warnings, base restriction etc. I think I can resolve this by turning safe mode off.

Notice: Undefined index: filename in /var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs/admin_cp/extensions/fieldtypes/ngen_file_field/ft.ngen_file_field.php on line 678

Notice: Undefined index: filename in /var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs/admin_cp/extensions/fieldtypes/ngen_file_field/ft.ngen_file_field.php on line 717

UPDATE: It seems the reason was permissions, even though 777 was granted it was not owned by plesk, I had to delete and mk dir and set permissions, but I still get these errors.

Sorry mate, Extension seems to be working fine (i.e. uploading files) but I get this error appearing when I delete an existing file…

Warning: exif_imagetype(/server/mywebsite/public_html/documents/https://ellislab.com/asset/images/ent-partner-work/March_2009_magazine_1.pdf) [function.exif-imagetype]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /server/mywebsite/public_html/admin/extensions/fieldtypes/ngen_file_field/ft.ngen_file_field.php on line 693

… also just one tiny, tiny thing. Can “Don’t use this image” be “Don’t use this file”.

Cheers

Well so far still getting that error but it’s possibly something with the thumbnail. I have it turned on and when it goes to make the thumbnail it only creates _thumbnail.jpg in the /thumbs directory. So that explains why it’s bombing out, no complete filename. The photo gets uploaded to the correct directory but not the thumbs dir.

One question about this.

If I set up a photo gallery using this extension is there some way to pull only one photo (random) rather than display all. Basically I want to have one random photo display from the photo gallery weblog with a link to that entry/gallery where the rest of the pics will be on display.

@Sean C Smith Your question is more of a FF Matrix question, but I don’t think FF Matrix currently has the ability to display a random row.
