I’m having the strangest problem… As soon as I make NGen File Field I can then no longer create a new weblog post with the linked Weblog. I can still edit posts with the NGen File Field activated, but I can’t create a new post. Any ideas?

Check if your file upload location is empty. This usually is causing problems.

I have recently installed ngen and used it successfully for uploading images and other files to a website. Today I tried to delete a couple of files but they won’t delete. Instead, the screen just jump back up to the top of the page.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I moved it from my local testing server to a 3rd party hosting service and all problems disappeared. THANKS!

Is there any way I can display file size and file type?

I’m using the nGen File Field in an FFMatrix for a resource library on a site… docs range from .doc to .pdf and the size in KB would be very nice to have displayed as well.

I am having problems when I try to create a link to a file using the following code:

{exp:weblog:category_archive weblog="forms" show="5" }

{entry_titles}
<h4><a href="http://{formname}">{title}</a></h4>

{/entry_titles}
{/exp:weblog:category_archive}

The ngen filed is called ‘formname’. At th moment the link is outputting as http://www.website.com/{formname} instead of http://www.website.com/pdf/title.pdf

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Alli, are you using the FFMatrix in conjunction with the nGen file field, or is the file field its own field type?

I think it is in its own field type. I just have the title and ngen field for the file link.

I’ve had ongoing problems with blank publish / edit screens since upgrading from 0.9.8 to 0.9.10, which I’m assuming are caused by PHP memory problems (only got 16MB) with the existing file image preview functionality.

Rolling back to 0.9.8 seems to fix it, so I’m guessing I’m adding a feature request to turn the existing image preview off, while keeping the existing image selection on.

Anyway, glad to have one of my “absolutely must have” extensions back…!

16MB is really too small these days to work with EE. I recommend 64MG at least. You’ll run into more problems down the line, especially if you use the forum module.

Hi Sue - Thanks for the advice, but got to say I disagree…! I’m managing about 40 small/medium sites, all with 16MB (and a few with 8MB), and this is the first problem like this I’ve had. Completely agree on the forum module though!

Yeah, it does matter what exactly you’re running. 😊

Ran into a new bug that seems to have popped up after installing MSM and creating a new site:

Notice: getimagesize() [function.getimagesize]: Read error! in /system/extensions/fieldtypes/ngen_file_field/ft.ngen_file_field.php on line 10

this is probably solved but for anyone else getting the error:

in the custom fields, when you select nGen as Field Type, you need to make sure to also specify File Upload location – leaving it blank is what throws this error.

JB

After installing the extensions, I’m getting the following error when trying to save a new post: MySQL ERROR: Error Number: 1064 Description: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ” at line 1 Query: SELECT * FROM exp_upload_prefs WHERE id = Does anybody have an idea what’s wrong. thank you

using this for the first time and I’m finding that when I hit “use existing file” it does nothing.

Any ideas?
