If you can tell us which extension it is that you are using then that will help a lot otherwise we would just be left guessing.

I’m pretty sure that Playa < 2.0 doesn’t have a limit=”“ parameter in the actual tag. You can limit it in the Publish area but that’s not really what you are after though. Version 2 I can see definitely has this parameter but that is a paid version. I’m not sure if Brandon is still supporting the old version seeing as he now has this paid version online though. Might want to contact him directly about it perhaps?
You could do a limit using PHP on the template but that would only limit what is shown as opposed to what is initially pulled back using the tag. Depending on what you are doing that may or may not be a possibility though.
