LG Member List is not searchable

I have a custom field using LG Member List but when you search for a member’s name in the basic search it does not find any of the members.
So say I have a weblog entry called “Amazing new web site” and I select “Andrew” in the member list to associate with the post when someone searches “Andrew”, “Amazing new web site” does not come up in the search results.
The field is set to searchable in the custom field.
Any fixes to this problem?
The LG Member List extension doesn’t save the actual name of the person but rather their member_id so you would be needing to search for that number instead of their name.

Can you normally search by author?
The solution I see is to enter the name manually in a custom weblog field but link to the profile using the extension. Bit of a hack.
Is there a better way?
Just realized this is more annoying as it means any data that is displayed from the Member List Extension is not searchable.
So if “Andrew’s” location is “New Zealand” and you search “New Zealand” none of the entries will show.
