Don’t worry, we will be contacting people who have been accepted into the beta to still get a copy, but we are closing any additional applications and will be releasing the module in the coming weeks.

Ah right, thanks Adam 😊

Got myself a little confused there I guess? 😉

Best wishes,

Mark

Any idea of cost for a licence?

Hi, When I try to create a new user group I get MySQL error:

Hi Laisvunas -

Just got that report from someone else as well. I’m not seeing the same behavior… where are you creating the group from? Front end? Or EE CP?

Thanks!

Hi,

I tried to create a group from EE CP, that is by going

CP Home > Modules > User Groups > Create User Group ,

entering a name and clicking “Create User Group”.

Hi, I tried to create a group from EE CP, that is by going CP Home > Modules > User Groups > Create User Group , entering a name and clicking “Create User Group”.

Can you PM me a Super Admin account so I can check out what’s wrong? I am not having the same issue on my 3 separate installs, so it’s hard for me to debug this…

Thanks!

Thanks Laisvunas -

As I mentioned in the PM, this was due to a version-specific MySQL bug regarding LEFT JOINs. I won’t get into the specifics, but once you verify it is working, other beta testers will be sent a new version to test.

We appreciate your patience.

Hi Dabbledoo,

Is there any docs for the User module?

As I can see after installing the module, I can create and delete a user group.

But what is the point of this module? Why should I create user groups not through usual EE interface, but using this module?

Hi Laisvunas -

Here is a link to the docs: http://www.dabbledoo.com/design/docs/User-Groups-Module/

Hopefully that helps to explain the purpose and power of the module - mainly that it mimics the group functionality of Facebook and other social sites (which is different than member groups which are just related to permissions). If you have any specific questions about it, feel free to holler.

Thanks!

Note: The docs are not 100% complete yet, but most functionality is documented.

This is really good news. Are you still looking for beta testers?

If not at least keep me in the loop. I’m very happy to see this coming. Move over Drupal!

I wouldnt mind a go on this module as well, as I am trying to work on something along the same lines.

Is this the kind of thing where I could have groups, people join them, and I can show weblog entries specific to this group?

How do I link groups and member groups?

Yes, you can have groups, people join then, and have discussions within them. However, weblog entries are not yet tied to User Groups in the current version.

Do you mean for permission reasons? If that’s what you mean, there is no way to do this at this time.

Thanks for your interest!
