Moderator’s note: Moved to Extensions: Technical Assistance.

Hi, i’m trying to use the extension to override the tell a friend form to enable users to refer the whole site rather than just a single weblog entry but am not sure how to use the extension hooks.

Can anybody give me a quick run down on how to go about this?

Thanks in advance!

Did you ever find a solution for this? Would like to do the same thing myself.

Thanks!

Yeh - basically all i did was install the extension and it worked. The hook is picked up as soon as the extension is installed..

Ahh, i thought I had read somewhere that the plugin/extension whatever was a total PITA? it’s pretty easy to do then? Can you direct me to it or PM it to me.

I ended up fixing it by creating a link in my footer wrapped around {exp:weblog:entris limit="1"} tags and just don’t include any of the post in the message I’m sending.

Thanks!

Mike

Hi guys,

I downloaded the extension (ext.refer2friend.php isn’t it?), uploaded it and installed it but it doesn’t work, I’m running EE1.6.7 with MSM 1.1… Any ideas?

Many Thanks,

Juan

Hi Juan,

Have you enabled the extension in › Admin › Utilities › Extensions Manager?

Wow, that was the fastest answer ever…

Yes I did that.

Thanks,

Maybe I’m missing something but what I understand is that you can use the tell a friend form on a page without calling it from a weblog entry, so you can have a standalone page with the form like this:

{exp:email:tell_a_friend}
Form Fields Here
{/exp:email:tell_a_friend}

Is that right?

Thanks again,

Juan

Yes, that’s what i have done and i use the same tags as you have,

Do you get an error when you try to use the form?

No, I don’t get any errors, it just doesn’t render the form :(

I had that same problem and i’m sure the reason was because i hadn’t enabled the extension. I’m just working on something now but i’ll try and look into it and help asap,

let me know if you manage to get it sorted in the meantime,

James

OK, thanks a lot James, I’m sure the extension is enabled so I’ll see what I can do.

Cheers!

I’m interested as well, as I have an extension that, when enabled, makes that page not render either.

Hi caycifish,

I gave up on this one, tried the extension on different EE versions, core, commercial, with PHP4, PHP5, with MSM, without…never got it working. I ended up following Mike’s advice and “wrapped around {exp:weblog:entries limit="1"} tags and just don’t include any of the post in the message I’m sending.”

Best regards,

Juan
