FF Matrix - Numbers in text replaced by double quotes "" when published

Hello, I’ve posted this question over at Brandon’s Get Satisfaction page, but just in case anyone here recognises the issue, or it might be something i’m doing wrong with EE.
Numbers are being replaced by double quotes “” in text entered within FF Matrix. For example if I enter 23 Skidoo, I get “” Skidoo in the front end article. I’ve checked my Character encoding, it’s on UTF-8. Any ideas?
